We gained Independence but not freedom from inferiority complex and the country must break free from slave mentality: PM Modi
Ayodhya: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that we gained Independence but not freedom from inferiority complex and the country must break free from slave mentality. Modi said these words on the occasion of hoisting Dharma Dhwaj (sacred flag) atop the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on Tuesday.
Modi said the sacred flag adorned with the Sun symbol, Om and Kovidara tree would stand as testimony to the triumph of truth over falsehood. The right-angled triangular flag hoisted atop the spire is 11 feet height and 22 feet long. It bears the image of a radiant Sun symbolizing the brilliance and valour of Lord Rama, with an Om inscribed on it along with the image of Kovidara tree.
Modi, flanked by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, member of temple trust Swami Govind Devi Giri, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, and UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath, also present on the occasion to outline the roadmap for a developed India by 2047.
Speaking on the occasion PM Modi said that centuries of wounds are healing and centuries of pain is finally finding a comfort. That unwavering resolve of 500 years is attaining its ultimate fulfilment as the flag fluttering atop the temple would proclaim the ideals of Lord Ram for centuries to come.
He also called this moment of healing for the wounds of centuries and an answer to the prayers of lakhs of devotees and hoisted saffron colour Dharma Dhwaj atop the spire of the temple was not just a flag but a symbol of India’s cultural renaissance.
Modi questioned the influence of the education system introduced by Thomas Babington Macaulay in 1835, pushing Western sciences and literature over traditional Indian subjects.
Around 190 years ago, Macaulay laid the foundation of mental slavery. We gained Independence but not freedom from inferiority complex. In the next 10 years, we will free India from the mentality of slavery, he said. Indians became obsessed with foreign things believing they are better than what India has to offer. This is the mentality of slavery which led many to even question the veracity and authenticity of the existence of Lord Ram, he added.
