Kochi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch country’s first-ever Water Metro services at Kochi on April 25th in Kerala. The Water Metro is expected to bolster economic growth, tourism, and transport connectivity in the region.

The Water Metro is a unique urban mass transit system that offers the same level of convenience and travel experience as conventional metro systems. It is set to be launched as a dream project of the State, with the goal of accelerating the growth and development of Kochi.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s Facebook post reveals that the project will be launched at a cost of Rs 1,136.83 crore and will be funded by the Government of Kerala and German bank KfW. The Kochi Water Metro will connect 10 islands in and around the city, with a total of 78 electric boats and 38 terminals.
