Howrah: Unidentified persons pelted stones on police on Friday, in continuation of the clashes prevailed violence over the Ram Navami procession at Howrah’s Kazipara area on Thursday.

The fresh clashes created tensions in the Howrah’s Kazipara area on Friday afternoon, said an official. According to the police sources the police Section 144 of CrPC imposed Kazipara area. The police used batons to disperse a group of people who had gathered there. Nearly 45 people were arrested in connection with the violence since Thursday. At least three policemen were injured in the brick batting and they are undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital.

A number of local people locked themselves inside houses while shops and markets were closed. Vehicular movement was disrupted following the incident of stone pelting. A huge team of RAF from Kolkata Police was brought into the area on Friday afternoon.
