Government Announced 141 “Padma Awards”

New Delhi: The Union Government announced the names of the “Padma” awardees on the eve of the Country’s 71st Republic Day. The government announced “Padma Awards” to 141 members for 2020.

The “Padma Vibushan” awards announced the boxer M C Maricom, among eight sports persons named for the prestigious honors on Saturday. “Padma Vibushan” is the country’s second highest civilian award.

Maricom was conferred with the “Padma Bushan” in 2013 and “Padma Sri” in 2006. P V Sindhu is among 16 persons named for the “Padma Bushan”, the country’s third highest civilian award. Cricketer Zaheer Khan, Indian women’s hockey team captain Rani Rampal, former Men’s hockey skipper MP Ganesh, Ace shooter Jitu Rai, former Indian women’s football team captain Oinam Bembem Devi and archer Tarun Deep Rai were among the six other sports persons who is named in the list of the 118 “Padma Sri” awards.

From two telugu states selected for “Padma Sri Awards” Chintala Venkat Reddy, noted Sanskrit poet Sri Bhashyam Vijaya Sarathi. From  AP Edla Gopal Rao and D. Chalapati and P V Sindhu for “Padma Bushan”. The former Union Ministers Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj were awarded for “Padma Vibushan” awards after posthumous.

From Bollywood Karan Johar, Ekta Kapoor, Kangana Ranout Singer Adnan Sami were selected for “Padma Sri” awards.
