The first actor to play “James Bond” Sean Connery passes away

Bahamas: The Scottish actor, recipient of Highest Civilian Award “Sir”, Oscar awardee Sean Connery (90), the cherishmastic Scottish Actor “James Bond”, died on Saturday. Sean Connery who rose to international stardom as the first actor to play Suave Secret Agent “James Bond”.

Connery’s son Jason said he died peacefully in his sleep in the Bahamas, having been unwell for some time. The first actor to utter the memorable line “Bond, James Bond”, Connery played the role seven times, giving the definitive portrayal of the character. On many occasions, he was voted by fans as the best actor to have played bond.

He was and shell always be remembered as the original James Bond, said franchise producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli. He revolutionized the world with his gritty and witty portrayal of the sexy and cherishmastic secret agent.

The actor, who became Sir Sean Connery in 2000, won numerous awards during his decades spanning career encompassing an array of big screen hits, including an Oscar, three Golden Globes and two Bufta Awards.  But it was his smooth, Scottish- accented portrayal of the Suave licensed- to- kill spy 007 that earned him lasting worldwide fame and adoration. People magazine named him the sexiest man alive at 59. In 1987, he won an Oscar for supporting actor for his portrayal of tough cop “The Untouchables”.
