Mumbai: Narcotics Control Bureau officials arrested Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty on Tuesday, after quizzing her nearly 20 hours from Sunday onwards. She was quizzed by the NCB officers six hours on Sunday, eight hours on Monday and again seven hours on Tuesday, finally arrested her in the connection with the drug leaders.

She was facing interrogation in the case of actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s suicide case. She was the girlfriend of Sushant, she purchased drugs for Sushant Singh Rajput, alleges NCB. She was sent to judicial custody for 14 days and asked to go to a session’s court for bail. She “is an active member of the drug syndicate connected with drug supplies,” the Narcotics Control Bureau said in its court documents. She faces charges that could lead to jail for up to 10 years but the Narcotics Control Bureau makes no official mention of her using drugs.

NCB senior officer Mutha Ashok Jain, said to the reporters “We have evidence against Rhea, which is why we arrested her. There is no need for custody”. He admitted that no drugs had been found on her. According to sources, Rhea Chakraborty broke down when confronted with her brother Showik Chakraborty, who was arrested last week. Documents submitted in court say Rhea Chakraborty “procured drugs for Sushant Singh Rajput and used to manage finance for drug procurement with him”.

Quoting Showik Chakraborty and Sushant Singh Rajput’s employees Samuel Miranda and Dipesh Sawant, the anti-drugs bureau told the court that “every delivery and payment was in conscious knowledge of Rhea Chakraborty”. Samuel Miranda and Sawant, who were arrested last week, “used to receive drugs for consumption of Sushant Singh Rajput”, according to the document. “During interrogation, Samuel Miranda disclosed that he used to procure drugs on the direction of Sushant Singh Rajput and Rhea Chakraborty,” said NCB.

“Dipesh Sawant disclosed that he used to receive drugs for Sushant Singh Rajput on his directions and on several occasions Rhea Chakraborty instructed him. Financial issues for purchase of drugs were dealt with by Sushant Singh Rajput and Rhea”. The anti-drugs agency launched its inquiries based on Whatsapp chats retrieved from Rhea Chakraborty’s phone, which revealed alleged conversations around procuring drugs.
