Hyderabad: Tollywood Superstar Krishna (80) passed away on Tuesday early morning between 4 and 5 am in Continental Hospital, Gachibowli. He was admitted in the hospital on Sunday late night, due to heavy cardiac arrest.

He was brought in unconscious stage to the hospital; the doctors immediately started treatment and brought him unconscious to consciousness. Then the doctors took Krishna to the emergency ward and continued treatment on ventilation. Due to multiple organ failure he stopped his last breath on the early hours of Tuesday. Superstar Krishna’s mortal will be shifted to his own Padmalaya Studios for the visit of his fans and other film industry persons etc.

Superstar Krishna was born on May 31st, 1942 in Burripalem village in Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh. He was the first child of G. Raghavayya Choudary and Nagaratnamma. His debut film was Tene Manasulu in 1965, film directed by Adurthi Subba Rao with new actors and the film was super duper hit.

Later, he acted in Kanne Manasulu and he got name as successful hero in Tollywood industry. Later, he established a film banner in the name of Padmalaya Movies in 1970 and he also established Padmalaya Studio at Nanakramguda in Hyderabad in 1980. He presented successful films like Pandanti Kapuram, Devudu Chesina Manushulu, Alluri Seetarama Raju, Simhasanam, Mosagallaku Mosagadu etc,.

He introduced 70 MM technology in Tollywood for the first time in his movie Simhasanam. He also produced the first 70MM colour film in Tollywood Alluri Seetarama Raju. He was awarded with Padmabushan, Filmfare Lifetime Achievement award and many more.

He joined politics in 1984 with Congress party he elected as MP from Eluru Parliamentary constituency. Later, he was defeated in 1985 then he left from politics.

Krishna survived with five childerns, three daughters and two sons. His younger son Mahesh Babu is leading star in Tollywood. Krishna’s original name is Ghatamaneni Sivarama Krishna Murthy. He married his maternity uncle’s daughter Indira Devi in 1965. Later, he married his co-actress Vijaya Nirmala in 1969. Krishna and Vijaya Nirmala acted nearly 48 films out of his career 350 films. He directed 16 films from starting with Simhasanam.

His Vijaya Nirmala directed nearly 48 films. Majority of the films was with Krishna, Mahesh Babu, Padmalaya Studios.
