99 teams participated in Police Hackathon
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad City Police organized a police hackathon on Saturday with the technical colleges, startups and corporate entities. The Hyderabad City Police hosted a police hackathon on issues of cyber crimes, women safety, road safety and social media monitoring, including fake news.

Around 400 participants formed 99 teams to participate in the hackathon. The State Government is providing sufficient funds for modernization of police towards ensuring the safety of citizens, said Home Minister Mohammed Ali. In his inaugural address Home Minister asserted that the hackathon will prove to be a great learning experience for younger generations. The aim of the event is to generate coding solutions for problems in different areas like cyber crimes, crimes against women and children, road safety and awareness and social media monitoring, said Additional CP (Crimes) Sikha Goel. Speaking in the two day hackathon, she said based on the coding solutions which stand out we will design products to improve policing functions.
The Hyderabad City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar emphasized deriving technological solutions using machine learning and Artificial Intelligence is need of the hour. The overall winner of the 36th hour hackathon will receive a cash award of Rs. One Lakh, while the best entry in every category will get a cash prize of Rs. 20, 000 each.
