Action will be taken against riots guilty: Amit Shah

New Delhi: Last month’s riots in New Delhi were a well planned conspiracy, said Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday. In his reply to a debate in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised the Delhi police for containing the violence in North East Delhi within 36 hours.

He traced the genesis of the riots to anti-CAA protests and accused Congress of deliberately planning the protest in the capital. For instance, in a December 14th rally, Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi asked people to be ready for “Aar paar ki ladai” and come out on the streets. As far as I am concerned, 52 Indians lost their lives and not people belonging to any particular religion or community, said Shah.

He also said that nobody who instigated or indulged in rioting would be spared, which ever religion or community that might belong to. Delhi has a population of 1 crore out of which nearly 20 lakhs live in riot affected areas, he said. I want to praise Delhi police for not letting it spread far and limiting it to an area of 13 % of population. The biggest responsibility it had was of stopping the violence. The Government was deploying scientific methods using facial recognition software to identify those involved.
