Jyothiraditya Scindia joins BJP: named for RS seat

New Delhi: BJP named former Congress MP Jyothiraditya Scindia as a party candidate for the Rajya Sabha seat. Soon after he joined the BJP party on Wednesday, he was named to Rajya Sabha.

His name considered in the Rajya Sabha quota of Madhya Pradesh. Madhya Pradesh is having three Rajya Sabha seats to elect in the month April-2020. According to the parties strength Congress and BJP parties will get each one seat with first preferential vote, the third seat depending on the second preferential vote. Jyothiraditya Scindia, who is close aide to Rahul Gandhi, quit the party on Tuesday after 18 years association with Congress.

He was apparently over being sidelined with in the Congress and also over the Rajya Sabha berth. The Congress Chief Minister Kamal Nath is facing political crisis in the state, due to the revolt of the 20 loyalist MLAs of Mr. Scindia. The rebel MLAs are camped in Bengaluru. The BJP also shifted its 107 MLAs to a resort in Manesar, near Gurgaon, amid reports of possible poaching by the Congress, which is trying hard to save its Government in the state.

After joining in the BJP, Scindia thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President J.P. Nadda for giving a place in their family and criticized the Congress of ignoring reality.
