55 villages submerged in Polavaram dam

Godavari: Heavy floods water of Godavari River submerged nearly 30 villages in Polavaram Mandal and 25 villages Kukkunoor Mandal. The flood water surrounded the Lanka villages and submerged the villages.

  The flood water diverted its original way and turned onto villages, due to the construction of Copper dam of the Polavaram project at the height of 28 meters. The submerged villages have no axis to go for the neighbouring villages. The A.P Government shifted the villagers to the rehabilitation camps and the supplying the daily needs.

  A.P Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy conducted ariel survey on Thursday and reviewed about the situation with the official at Rajamundry. He directed officials to provide ration and daily needs to the affected villages. He also directed the officials to provide Rs. 5,000 financial assistance to families. The Government officials and the public representatives are supervising these rehabilitation works of Polavaram. The officials are using boats to reach the villagers and shifting the flood affected villagers to the rehabilitation centres. There are nearly 3 to 4 feets of water stagnated in the villages all dwelling houses are submerged.
