AP cabinet decided to constitute a “High Power Committee” on capital shifting: Nani
Vijayawada: The AP State cabinet has decided to appoint a high powered committee on Friday to study the capital relocation proposal under the decentralization of development plan of the state. The capital shifting process took a twist when the cabinet decided to wait till it received a report from the Boston Consultancy Group (BCG) on shifting the centralized capital from Amaravathi.
The cabinet also further decided to appoint a high powered committee to study the reports of B.N. Rao committee and the BCG reports. The committee will comprise with Ministers, senior officials and experts to study the two reports. After the cabinet meeting the Information and Public Relations Minister Perni Venkata Ramaiah (Nani) said to the reporters in a press conference that the Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy wants decentralization of development and equal representation to all regions.
CM committed to completing work on creation of the Legislative Capital in Amaravathi. He also said the BCG will submit its report in the first week of January. After submitting the high power committee’s report, Government will take a final decision. The cabinet also discussed on the welfare sector for Aarogya Sri, fee re-imbursement, Irrigation projects, Polavaram, water grid, housing and other such schemes. The dream city Amaravathi needs 1.09 crores to complete the construction work, it is a heavy burden to the state Government, he added. The relocation of capital to Vishakhapatnam is the best option for the state given the financial condition, he said. The YSRCP Government will place all details infront of the public before taking a decision on shifting capital.
