Heavy rains in AP and TS: red alert issued in 21 districts in two states

Hyderabad: Due to a depression in Bay of Bengal heavy rains pouring in AP and Telangana States since four days is causing water loggings and low lying areas submerged in many towns.

AP Government issued red alert in ten districts and Telangana Government issued red alert in 11 districts. The Godavari flood levels are in danger level at Bhadrachalam and issued first danger alert. The flood waters surrounded the temple in Bhadradri and surrounding premises.

Nearly 80 pilgrims were stranded due to heavy rains by spate river floods in Mulugu district on Wednesday. As well as the Hyderabad city also have been water logging and traffic jams in many areas due to rain.

The GHMC issued red alert in the city and also cautioned the public do not come out from their houses for two more days. The Government announced two days holiday for schools, colleges and offices.

In Andhra Pradesh the Irrigation officials opened 140 crest gates of Dhavaleshwaram barrage and released flood water into the downstream. Due to heavy floods in Krishna river the officials opened 70 crest gates of Prakasham barrage to let-out the flood water into the sea of Bay of Bengal.
