
YS Jagan’s Government withdraws controversial three Capital Bill
Vijayawada: AP CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said that his Government would bring a comprehensive complete and better bill inplace of AP Decentralization and inclusive development bill – 2020 was being repealed to protect the larger interest of the people.
CM YS Jagan in his address in the Assembly on Monday said our intention of a decentralized development of the state has been twisted, distorted and a misinformation launched, legal hurdles were created and Court cases filed. AP Decentralization and Inclusive Development Bill were meant to trifurcate Andhra Pradesh’s capital into three the Executive Capital at Vishakhapatnam, Legislative Capital at Amaravathi and Judicial Capital at Kurnool.
The Government would explain its genuine intention and the need for decentralization to all concerned and incorporate necessary changes in the new Bill. The decision to scrap the Bill was taken at an emergency cabinet meeting on Sunday. The High Court, where multiple petitions were filed challenging the bill was informed by the Advocate General about the Government decision.

YS Jagan’s Government opting instead for three capitals saying it intended to equally develop all regions of the state. But it ran into opposition from many quarters. The matter finally went to the AP High Court, which ordered that status quo be maintained. The Government failed to get any relief from the SC last year.
Earlier, Finance and Legislative Affairs Minister B. Rajendernath Reddy introduced repeal bill of AP Decentralization bill in the Assembly. He explained about the bill and its importance for the development of the State.
