Zero FIR’s in all AP police stations: Gautam Sawang
Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh police decided to implement Zero FIR policy in all police stations of all 13 districts. AP DGP Gautam Sawang directed the higher police officials to implement the Zero FIR policy.
This will prevent Jurisdictionary delays like faced by the family of Veterinary doctor Disha. AP DGP said that there a specific direction about the registering the complaint and reiterated that even the alleged offence has been committed outside the territorial Jurisdiction of the police station, an FIR should be registered.
The FIR might be transferred to the concerned police station, he said. The police officer will be clearly informed that the failure to comply with direction of registration of Zero FIR may lead to the prosecution of the police officer under Section 166A of IPC and may also involve departmental action against the officials, he added.
The AP DGP said that all the police stations and police officials are directed to follow the Zero FIR norm and warned about stern disciplinary action against erring police officials for refusal to file Zero FIR complaint.
