Chidambaram Released from Bihar Jail

New Delhi: The Former Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram got bail from the Supreme Court, and was released from Tihar Jain on Wednesday. He was in Tihar Jail at New Delhi since 105 days, in INX Media money laundering case.

        A Bench of Justices R. Bhanumathi, A S Bopanna and Hrishikesh Rai said that while n bail, Chidambaram shall not tamper with evidence are attempt to intimidate or influence the witnesses. He is suffering with two bouts of illness and being put on anti-biotics during imprisonment, and the advice to him to take strong steroids, also a cause in the grant of bail.

        The court noted that Chidambaram was not in the ED’s ECIR. On the allegation that us the finance minister he aided his son Karthi’s illegal transactions. The court said his complicity still has to be established. Chidambaram already had been granted in the corruption aspect of the same case on October 22. That was investigated by the CBI. The money laundering is investigated by the enforcement directorate.
