Vijayawada: The AP Government has filed a Special Leave Petition in the Supreme Court, seeking vacation of Andhra Pradesh High Court’s Status-quo order on the De-centralization of development and Inclusive development of All Regions Act and the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) Repeal Act.

The SLP is likely to be heard on Monday. The aggrieved farmers and Amaravathi Parirakshana Samithi have already filed Caveat Petitions, the requesting the Court to consider their arguments before passing any judgments in the Supreme Court on the same matter. The High Court had directed the State Government on August 4th to file counter affidavits to the petitions challenging both the acts. As the Government was not ready to give an undertaking on the maintaining Status-quo, the High Court said in its order that it expects Status-quo to be maintained and posted the matter for further hearing to August 14th.

As the High Court directive hit the Government’s plans to shift the Executive Capital to Vishakhapatnam, the Andhra Pradesh Government had moved the Supreme Court for relief. It has challenged the High Court order on technical ground, stating that the bills were cleared by the Legislature and got the Governor’s approval too.
