AP Government, KIA Motors denied the shifting of the factory to TN

Ananthapur: The representatives of Kia Motors, officials of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu denied media reports on shifting of the Kia Motors unit to Chennai from Ananthapur district. The opposition TDP launched a scathing attack against AP CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy described as “A Retrogressive” approach, driving away the industry.

This rumours spread by a report of international news agency Reuters about South Korean auto company Kia Motors planning to shift its manufacturing unit, which is in Penukonda of Ananthapur district in AP to Tamil Nadu state. The TDP raised the now contested news of the shifting of Kia in Parliament. TDP MPs alleged in the Parliament on Thursday that what the Central Government would do when multi-national companies were subjected to harassment.

The TDP MPs also urged the Central Government to intervene in the three capitals issue in AP. The industries Special Chief Secretary of AP Rajath Bhargav issued a statement that the both AP Government and Kia Motors denied the reports of shifting, who is in Lucknow participating in the Defense Expo. Later he spoke with Tamil Nadu Government, the Tamil Nadu Principal Secretary, Industries Department clarified that they were not talks with Kia Motor and there were no discussions between them in this regard, said Bhargav.

The two Governments of AP and Tamil Nadu having cordial relations, he said. The AP Finance Minister B. Rajendranath Reddy in a press conference said that the news as propaganda aimed at tarnishing the State’s image.
