AP Stood Top in Covid-19 Tests Per Million

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s efforts to contain Covid-19 in the state, by conducting more tests to the people stood first among the all states in the country. The AP stand in the first place, in Covid-19 tests per million population, beating Rajasthan, which had occupied the top slot for a long time.

AP is also far ahead in National average as far as Covid-19 screening is concerned. AP has tested 41,512 samples so far, which amounts to 830 samples per million populations, as against the countries’ average of 334 samples. Rajasthan which stand second place as conducted 809 tests per million. The other three states in the top five list are Tamil Nadu (781 samples per one million), Maharashtra (665) and Gujarat (604).

Rajasthan has tested 55,759 samples, while Tamil Nadu has carried out 53,045 tests so far. Maharashtra and Gujarat as so far tested 75,838 and 36,829 people, respectively. AP setting up 8 RT – PCR labs in various parts of the state. Andhra Pradesh has extended its testing footprint through truenat machines.

The screening process will now be expanded with rapid anti-boding testing and the chemiluminescent, immunoassay, IgG and IgM (CLIA) methods. The state had imported the rapid test kit from South Korea.
