Bengal Government will provide full support Alapan Bandyopadhyay: CM Mamata Banerjee

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday said that her administration will stand by the former Chief Secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay of the State on the row over his not joining the Central Government.

Speaking to the media persons, she claimed that it is a closed chapter now. The West Bengal government will give full support to Alapan Bandyopadhyay in whatever is going around with him, she said.

The Union Government transferred Chief Secretary to Delhi DoPT shortly after a row broke out over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s post-cyclone review meeting, which the CM and the state chief secretary did not attend.

This caused the Centre and State tussle. Mamatha Banerjee appointed him as CM’s Chief Adviser announced his retirement on May 31st without relieving to the Central Services.

The Union Home Ministry has served a show-cause notice on Bandyopadhyay under a stringent provision of the Disaster Management Act that entails imprisonment up to two years.
