Chennai: A Tamil political party DVK (Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhagam) filed a case against Superstar Rajnikanth on Wednesday demanding action against him for making an allegedly false statement about the DMK founder Periyar E.V. Ramaswamy.

The DVK in its complaint said that Rajnikanth in his speech at the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the Tamil magazine Tuhglak on Wednesday in Chennai alleged a false statement against Ramaswamy.

A complaint registered against Rajnikanth at the Katoor police station in Coimbatore. DVK President K. Mani said the actor had uttered a blatant lie, while referring to a rally organized by Periyar, and demanded unconditional apology. The actor also earned the ire of DMK’s youth wing head Udhaya Nidhi Stalin for another remark he made as part of the same speech.

In the complaint in the Coimbatore accused Rajnikanth of besmirching the reputation of Periyar Ramaswamy by making a false statement that nude pictures of Lord Rama and Sita were carried by marchers in a rally organized at Selam in 1971.
