
CM YS Jagan urges PM Modi to reconsider disinvestment of Vizag teel Plant
Amaravathi: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy urges Prime Minister Narendra Modi to reconsider the privatization of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. CM YS Jagan wrote a letter to Prime Minister Modi on Saturday, urged to reconsider the disinvestment plan of Vishakhapatnam Steel Plant.
The Cabinet Committee approved the 100 per cent privatization of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the corporate entity of Steel Plant. CM YS Jagan mentioned some suggestive measures to strengthen the plant. CM YS Jagan said that the Steel Plant of Vizag is a testimony to the will power of Telugu people and it is an icon of achievement of Telugu people. He further said that the Government of Andhra Pradesh will work with the Ministry of Steel to save the jewel of Andhra Pradesh.
Jagan in his letter said the Vizag Steel Plant have 19, 700 acres of land of its own with an estimated value of morethan Rs. One lakh crore and it have nearly 20K permanent employees; it provides employment to thousands of people indirectly. The Vizag Steel Plant have earned Rs. 200 crore profit in the year 2019-20. If we take care of on that the Vizag Steel Plant will earn profits, Jagan said. The AP Government will initiate steps to own the Vizag Steel Plant in the state public sector, he added.
