Adilabad: Adilabad district fast track court awarded a death penalty to the three culprits of “Samatha” gang rape and murder case. The district and session judge M G Priya Darshini pronounced death penalty as punishment to three accused in the “Samatha” rape and murder case on Thursday.

The police submitted evidences to the court efficiently against the accused persons Shahbuddin (40), Shaik Babu (30), the prime accused and Maqdhoom (35) to prove the gang rape and murder. This is the first case in the history of Adilabad district leading to a death penalty sentence in any case till today.

“Samatha” (30) belong to SC community used to sell ballons and utensils besides collecting discarded hair in tribal areas.  She was gang rape and murdered Yellapatar village in Lingapur mandal in Komarambhim Asifabad district on November 24^th in 2019. She was a resident of the Gosampally Yellanur Village in Khanapur Mandal, Nirmal District.
