Cyclone Nivar may affect Nellore, Rayalaseema districts in AP

Vishakhapatnam: Severe cyclonic storm Nivar is likely to cross the Bay of Bengal Coast between Chennai and Puducherry on Wednesday triggering heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in some parts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Andhra Pradesh Government has put the District Administration in Rayalaseema and parts of South Coastal Andhra on a high alert as these areas may be hit by strong gales and heavy downpour. According to the IMB bulletin Nivar is moving towards Tamil Nadu coast, officials in AP heaved a sigh of relief. However, the administration is kept on a high alert fishermen directed not to move into the sea for fishing.  People living in low lying areas have been evacuated.

NDRF and SDRF teams have been kept at standby. The IMD has issued a red warning for Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra while predicting heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in isolated areas in Telangana including Hyderabad City. The forecast is valid for Wednesday and Thursday for Hyderabad.
