Washington: Former US President Donald Trump’s accounts on Facebook and Instagram will reinstate soon, said Social networking giant Meta on Tuesday. Meta would soon reinstate former US president Donald Trump’s accounts on Facebook and Instagram with new guardrails, two years after he was banned.

Meta President Nick Clegg, Global affairs in a statement said that we will be reinstating Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts in the coming weeks. The reinstatement would come with “new guardrails in place to deter repeat offenses, he added.

Going forward, the Republican leader could be suspended for up to two years for each violation of platform policies, Clegg said. Facebook banned Trump a day after the January 6th, 2021 insurrection, when a mob of his supporters tried to halt the certification of his election defeat to Joe Biden by storming the US Capitol in Washington.
