DY Chandrachud took oath as the 50th CJI

New Delhi: Justice DY Chandrachud took oath as the 50th Chief Justice of India (CJI). President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath of office of the CJI to Justice Chandrachud at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Wednesday.

Justice DY Chandrachud will be in the office CJI for tenure of two years. He will demit the office of CJI on 10th November 2024.

After taking the oath as CJI, Justice DY Chandrachud reached his office and said to the media persons that to serve the nation is my priority. We’ll protect all the citizens of India, be it in terms of technology or registry reforms, or judicial reforms.

He also paid tribute to the Mahatma Gandhi statue in the Parliament after taking the oath.

Chandrachud is the Son of 16th CJI Yeshwant Vishnu Chandrachud; DY Chandrachud was appointed a Judge of the Supreme Court on May 13th, 2016.
