Farmers firm on repeal of Agricultural Laws: eight round talks ended without conclusion

New Delhi: The talks between the Government and the protesting farmer representatives’ end on Friday without any progress. The two parties are firm on their words, the eighth round talks also not get any results and the next round talks will be held on 15th January.
The Government and the farmer representatives remain divided on two key issues – the repeal of the laws and a legal guarantee for MSP. According to the Sources said the Centre represented by Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and Railways Minister Piyush Goyal continues to insist the laws will benefit farmers. The farmers continue to demand the centre roll them back and allow State Governments to enact their own rules.
“The Government urged farmer unions give an option other than repealing, but no option was presented so the meeting concluded,” Tomar, who met Home Minister Amit Shah before the talks, said to the media.
