Former President Pranab responding to treatment: hospital sources

New Delhi: According to the hospital sources former President Pranab Mukherjee is slowly responding to medical treatment and his all vital parameters and stable though he remains deeply comatose. Sources said his pupils had started responding to light. He was admitted to the Army’s Research and Referral hospital in New Delhi on August 10th and was operated to remove a clot in the brain. Earlier in the day, the hospital said in a bulletin the condition of the Pranab Mukherjee remained unchanged this morning.

Former President Pranab Mukherjee went on ventilator support; he had calledup his son with a request. Pranab Mukherjee asked his son Abhijit “Kaathal Niye Aaye (Bring me Jack fruit)”, his sixty year old son in Bengali, longing a bit of home.

Abhijit told to the reporters that I went to our village, Mirati (Birbhum district in West Bengal) from Kolkata to get jack fruit for him. It was ripe 25 Kg fruit. I took a train from Delhi on August 3rd and met him. Baba and I both love train journey’s, he said at his residence in New Delhi. He had some jack fruit that day. Thankfully, his sugar didn’t go up. He was so happy, he was not sick then. But a week later, he suddenly was. The former President underwent surgery for removal of blood clot from his brain and before that he tested +ve for Covid- 19. The 84 year old former President remained deeply comatose on Thursday.
