Hyderabad: The State Election Commission announced the GHMC election schedule on Tuesday, which said voting, will be held on December 1^st. The GHMC election counting will take place on December 4^th.

The entire election process would be completed in 17 days (between November 17^th and December 4^th). SEC C. Parthasarathy said we issued poll notification in consultation with the Government.

As per the recently amended GHMC Act, concurrence of the State Government is mandatory for fixing the election schedule. Though there was talk in political circles that the elections could be held earlier than expected, many though voting would be take place in mid-January.

Polling in 150 wards will be held from 7 am to 6 pm in accordance with Covid- 19 guidelines. Also, ballot papers will be used instead of EVMs. Only three days have been given for filing nominations from November 18^th, 19^th and 20^th and a day’s gap between the date of poll notification and commencement of filing of nominations.
