New Delhi: The Ministry of Housing cancelled the allotment of Government Quarter to the AICC General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday. The Government cancelled the quarter allotted to Priyanka Gandhi in the Lodhi Road, after the removal of SPG cover.

Now she continues to be under Z+ category which does not offer accommodation, SPG protection is only the criteria to allot the accommodation in the Lodhi Road. The AICC General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi, In-charge of U.P has been directed to vacate the house which was allotted to her 23 years ago. Prior to the SPG Act being amended and the elite force tasked to protect only the serving Prime Minister, families of former Prime Ministers were covered.

They were offered Government residences on the basis of threat perception. The SPG Act was amended by the Parliament on December 3rd, 2019, and the vacation notice was issued on July 1st. The Congress party termed the eviction notice is a political vendetta and said the SPG security of Gandhi family members and former PM Manmohan Singh was earlier withdrawn out of the same pettiness. Congress Spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said everyone knows the hatred that BJP and the Modi Government have against the Congress leadership.

Congress said the eviction was anticipated and Priyanka would be spending most of her time in Lucknow at the bungalow of Late. Shelia Kaul.
