IAS Chasing Down a Reporter in Public During Local Polls

Lucknow: Local body elections in Uttar Pradesh held on Saturday witnessed more incredible scenes in the state. A video was viral in the social media that an IAS officer chasing down a reporter in public and beating him viciously.

The CDO of Unnao, Divyanshu Patel is accused of attacking the TV reporter, who is recording that allegedly the CDO helping kidnap local council members to prevent them from voting. The video of the assault was shared widely on social media and triggered widespread condemnation.

Unnao Collector and District Magistrate said to the media persons that he has got a written complaint from the victim journalist. He assured the journalist he will take fair action in the case. The local body elections held in 17 districts in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday witnessed clashes and violence incidents in the polling of block Panchayat chief elections.

The BJP claimed the win in the block Panchayat chief election is a “Historic Victory”. The opposition parties and the former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi party alleged rigging and manipulation. Many complaints registered in several parts of districts of the state, who were not voting due to the prevention of opposition.
