Justice Aroop Goswami sworn-in as Chief Justice of AP

Vijayawada: Justice Aroop Goswami on Wednesday sworn-in as Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court. He was transferred from Sikkim High Court to AP High Court.

Andhra Pradesh Governor Bishwa Bhushan Harichandan administered the oath with Aroop Goswami as Chief Justice of AP High Court at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram at Vijayawada. After the completion of oath ceremony, Governor Bishwa Bhushan Harichandan and AP CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy felicitated the new Chief Justice of AP High Court, Justice Aroop Goswami with Shawl and presented Bouquet. High Court Justices, AP Ministers, Chief Secretary Adityanath Das, Advocate General Sriram, AAG P. Sudhakar Reddy and others attended the ceremony.

Later Chief Justice proceeded to the High Court and started proceedings with the senior Justice C. Praveen Kumar. Aroop Goswami was born in Jorhat in Assam in 1961. He completed his law degree in 1985 and began practice at Guwahati High Court. He was appointed as Additional Justice of Assam High Court in 2011 and appointed as permanent Judge in 2012, later he was transferred to Sikkim High Court as Chief Justice in 2019. He was also a Ranji Cricket player; he participated in under- 19 and under- 21 from East Zone.
