Mamatha Banerjee dare to CBI to arrest her

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamatha Banerjee asked the CBI to arrest in protest the arrest of her Cabinet Ministers and one MLA on Monday. She alleged that BJP defeated in the Assembly elections in 2021 and it is creating troubles to the State Government by using CBI.

TMC workers demonstrated protests throughout the State following the arrest of party leaders in the Narada Sting case. She also questioned why the CBI not arrested the BJP leaders Suvendu Adhikari and others who were the accused in the same case, when they are in TMC in 2016.

She also questioned why CBI arrested only TMC Ministers and MLAs and she also found fault on Governors decision to give nod to CBI to arrest TMC leaders.

TMC Ministers Subrata Mukherjee and Firhad Hakim and TMC MLA Madan Mitra were arrested in Narada Sting case. After hearing the arrests of her Cabinet Ministers and MLA she rushed to the CBI office.

The CM apparently asked the CBI to arrest her, too, when asked to leave the office. Investigative journalist and representative of Narada TV news channel Mathew Samuel conducted sting operation in 2014 wherein people resembling TMC ministers, MPs and MLAs were allegedly seen receiving money from representatives of a fictitious company in lieu of favours.

The tapes were made public just before the 2016 assembly elections in West Bengal. Both Roy and Adhikari were TMC members when the purported tapes had surfaced. The Calcutta High Court had ordered a CBI probe into the sting operation in March 2017.
