35 arrest: Curfew in Jabalpur

Bhopal/ Jabalpur: A high tension battle between police and protesters during the protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) on Friday. At least 35 people have been arrested on charges of violence. Section 144 remained in force in 44 districts out of 52 districts in MP for the second day on Saturday.

   A meeting was held with leaders of different communities and political party leaders on Saturday in Jabalpur. State Ministers including state Finance Minister Tarun Bhanot attended the meeting. He assured people of different communities of security. “I have asked the District Administration to take strong action against the trouble makers, but to ensure that no innocent people are falsely implicated”, said Bhanot.

  Even the Rapid Action Force (RAF) and the Anti-Riot wing of the MP police have been deployed in the sensitive areas in Jabalpur to prevent recurrence of violence. In Jabalpur curfew was remained in force for the second day. District Collector Bharat Yadav said that “Curfew will continue in the town till normalcy is restored. Curfew will be relaxed for three hours every day to enable people to buy essential commodities”.     

   Former Chief Minister and BJP National Vice-President Shivaraj Singh Chouhan reached Jabalpur on Saturday. He said that law was not against any community and interacted with the people to create awareness about CAA. Congress and some people are spreading canards to create fear Psychosis among the Muslims over CAA.
