National News

New Delhi: The Regional parties in the states of South Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and West Bengal seriously related on the words of Amit Shah on Hindi a Common Language and staged protest.

DMK President MK Stalin said that Amit Shah’s views are shocking, painful and detrimental to the country’s unity and integrity. It amounted to relegating non Hindi speaking people as second class citizens. He urged the Home Minister withdrawn his remarks at the earliest.

Pro-Kannada organisation staged protest in Karnataka and hash tags including # Stop Hindi-Imperialism, #Stop Hindi-Imposition started trending on the social media.

MIM’s Asaduddin Owaisi reacted sharply saying. “Hindi is not every Indian’s “mother tongue”. Could you try appreciating the diversity and beauty of the many mother tongues that dot this land? Article 29 gives every Indian the right to a distinct language, script & culture… India’s much bigger than Hindi, Hindu, and Hindutva.”

Tweeting in Kannada, Former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddharamaiah said, “The lie that Hindi is a national language should stop.  Let it be known to all that it is just like Kannada, one among the 22 official’s languages of India. You cannot promote a language by spreading lies and fake information.”

TMC Supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Benarjee said. “We should respect all languages and cultures.”
