CAB bill is not anti-Muslim: Amit Shah: MPs voted in favour of the bill 311, against 80
New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) is not against the Muslims, the bill does not violate the Article 14 of the Constitution at 0.001 %. The bill differed the all are equal as per the Constitution, when the opposition & Congress party MPs alleged that the CAB is against the fundamental rights.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah introduced the CAB in Lok Sabha on Monday. He said that this bill provide safety net of citizenship to persecuted persons and denied that there is any political agenda behind it. The Minister also made it clear that the Government is determined to bring the National Register of Citizen (NRC) in the same way. The Lok Sabha passed the bill after a detailed discussion on Monday. 311 members voted in favour of the bill and only 80 members voted against the bill. The CAB seeks to provide citizenship to persecuted refugees of migrant of six communities i.e., Hindus, Parsis, Sikhs, Jains, Christians and Buddhists, who live as minorities in India’s three neighbouring countries Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The opposition alleged that CAB as regressive, discriminatory and divisive legislation that is against the basic character and intent of the Constitution. And is a means of target Muslims by treating them as second rate citizens. There is no hidden political agenda. We have declared CAB in our election manifestos based on which 130 crore people has voter us to power, Amit Shah regretting claims of the opposition MPs that the bill is anti-Muslim.
The bill is against the infiltrators. If any members prove that the bill discriminates, I will take it back…Muslim citizen in India live with respect and will continue to do so.
Amit Shah criticizing the opposition parties that the Congress portioned the country in 1947 under the basis of Religion. But the CAB is not based on the Religion. The bill only rejects the Muslims of Pakistan Nationals, he said. He also quoted that the former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the former Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani who were migrated from Pakistan in 1947 are treated as Indians, he said.
Amit Shah also clearly said that the Rohingyas refugees are not permitted for citizenship. The CAB bill also reduced living period in India to get the citizenship from 11 years to 5 years only.
