New Delhi: India would have a single multi-purpose identity card sonly said the union home minister Amit Shah. He was announcing this on Monday; the new identity card will be used as an identity card, voter card, passport and PAN.

              He also said that the Census of 2021 would be conducted entirely digitally, through a mobile aap, instead of the conventional manual correction (Pen and Paper). The new census reference date would be March 1^st, 2021, while for the snow-bound states of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and J&K would be 1^st Oct 2021.

           The new identity card will bring in 16 languages, with a cost of Rs. 12,000/- crores. Amit Shah laid a foundation stone for a new building and also pitched for a single multi-purpose identity card for all public utilities. That is why digital census is important, he said.
