New Delhi: the Delhi Police Personnel took to the streets to protest against two attacks on their colleagues by lawyers. The protest of police personnel turns the cities traffic out of gear. Their rage was not nearly confined to lawyers but was also directed at the apathy of the government and the top echelons of the force, including police commissioner Amulya Patnaik who had taken action against some police personnel on the directions of a court.

          The striking crowd of protesting police, some in uniform and others in civil dress had gathered outside the police head quarters in the morning and unrelenting in their demand that the licences of lawyers who assaulted their colleagues be revoked. And the transfers of police officers involved in the Tis-Hazari clash last week be resciended. The eleven hour long agitation mostly by constables, ASI’s and Inspectors was called off late evening after some of their demand were met. The family members of the police personnels were also participated in the protest. The police and their family members took a protest march from police head quarters to India gate.
