Fire catches Tazgan Express in Pak: 73 died
Islamabad: Atleast 73 passengers lost their lives, when a running train catches fire on Thursday. And also nearly 40 passengers sustained critical burn wounds. Three compartments of a Tazgan Express caught fire due to explosion in gas cylinders purportedly used by Tableeghi Zamath passengers to cook breakfast near Talwari station in Liaquatpur area of Pakistan’s Raheemyar Khan City. The train started from Karachi to reach Rawalpindi. Many commuters died and several injured when they jumped from the moving train to escape from flames. The passengers cried for help as fire engulfed the compartments. The wounded passengers were rushed to the hospital in the nearby city of Bahawalpur and elsewhere in Raheemyar Khan District. Atleast 12 of the injured persons is in critical condition, while 18 dead bodies could not identified. Pakistan Railways released helpline numbers, firefighters and rescue 1122 teams extinguished the fire and evacuated the other passengers from the train to safer places. The affected compartments were separated from the train. According to the police 207 commuters were travelling in three compartments with 77, 76 and 54 in each of them. Most of the passengers began their journey from Hyderabad.
