Kochin Airport will open at 3.00 pm on Sunday

Trivandrum: The Kochin airport authorities announced that the flights will fly from 3.00 pm on Sunday. The Kochin airport authorities closed the flight traffic from Friday onwards.

  Due to the heavy rains in the state since one week, the water reached to the airport and the airway was submerged. Heavy waters from Periyar dam and a canal from Periyar dam entered into the airport and into some colonies. The airport authorities temporarily restored flight flying with the navel based INS Garuda.

  Heavy rains in Kerala caused floods in nine districts in the state. Nearly 3,500 and above families are shifted to the rehabilitation camps. Nearly 1, 24, 465 members were provided shelter in rehabilitation centres. Wayanad, Mallapur, Idukki, Kozhikode and other five districts are hitted by the floods. Wayanad and Mallapur districts are badly damaged by the floods and several crops damaged. Nearly 40 people were died in the floods and the collapse of landslides in the Wayanad district.

  Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan monitoring the flood situation in the state and instructing the NDRA and SDRF teams for the rescue operations.

  The Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi may visit the flood affected constituency Wayanad and Mallapur districts on Sunday, if the weather is favorable. Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured Rahul Gandhi, he will provide sufficient help to the flood affected Wayanad constituency.
