Ramnath Conferred Sports Awards

New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind presented the sports awards to the sports personnel athlete’s para sports and athletes on 29th August 2019 at Rashtrapati Bhavan. President Ramnath Kovind presented the sports awards on the occasion of to commemorate the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand’s on 29th August.

       President Ramnath Kovind presented “Khel Ratna” and “Arjuna” awards and also gave away “Dronacharya and Dhyan Chand’s” awards to coaches. The tenzing norgey National adventure awards, “Moulana Abdul Kalaam Azad trophy and Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puraskar” also presented.

       Paralympic silver medalist Deepa Malik is the first Indian Women para athlete in the oldest to be conferred the “Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna” award at the Rashtrapati Bhavan here. Her co-awardee Bajrang Puniya away from the ceremony due to training commitments.

      World Championships bronze-medalist shuttler B. Sai Praneeth, women cricketer Poonam Yadav, Asian Games gold-winner heptathlete Swapna Barman, foot-baller Gurupreet Singh Sandhu, two-time wolrd Silver-Medalist boxer Sonia Lather, Asian Games silver medalist eques-train Fouaad Mirza, motor sports ace Gaurav Gill and Kabadii captain Ajay Thakur were among the 19 sportspersons who received the Arjuna Award from President Ram Nath Kovind here.
