NEP will lead to ‘Aatma Nirbhar Bharat’: Modi

New Delhi: The new education policy (NEP) will play a key role in creating ‘Aatma Nirbhar Bharat’ besides establishing the country as a global education destination said Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday.

Prime Minister in his virtual address to the 22nd convocation of IIT (Guwahati) said I firmly believe that the future of a nation is what its youth is today. Your dreams are going to shape the reality of India, he said. That’s why this is the time to be future ready, he added. NEP which is designed to ease the burden of classroom teaching and examination on students on is for the youth’s of the 21st century, who will lead the world and make India the global leader in science and technology, Modi said.

Prime Minister Modi urged IIT-Guwahati to establish a center for disaster management and risk reduction, saying it can play a major role in the government’s ‘act east policy’ which will also give the north eastern region a new identity and opportunities. Lauding the efforts of IIT-Guwahati in adopting new technologies, especially for investing new equipments during the covid-19 pandemic, he said.

I am also happy to know that IIT-Guwahati is leading in integration of science and technology in B-tech courses. I am fully confident that inter-disciplinary programs will make our educations all round and futuristic, he said.
