PM conveyed condolences to the families of the deceased in Vidisha tragedy: 11 dead and 19 rescued

Vidisha: PMO office expressed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s condolences in the twitter over the deaths of 11 people who fell into well while trying to rescue a boy. Nearly 30 villagers fell into well in Lal Patar village in Vidisha district in Madhya Pradesh.

A teenage boy fell into the well on Tuesday night. Some people climbed down the well to rescue him and others stood on the surrounding parapet to help them. 19 people were rescued. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced exgratia of ₹ 2 lakh from PMNRF for each to the deceased family members.

Prime Minister expressed anguish by the tragedy in Vidisha district. Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan said those rescued are undergoing treatment for their injuries at hospitals in Vidisha and Basoda.

CM in his tweet announced ₹ 5 lakh exgratia to the families each of those who died in the incident. The State Government will ensure the treatment of those injured and provide each of them with an assistance of ₹ 50,000, he added.

According to the eyewitnesses parapet collapsed under the weight of the people and all of them fell into the well. The well is about 50 feet deep and has water up to 20 feet.
