Police stopped Shaheen Bagh protesters in the midway to the residence of Home Minister
New Delhi: The Delhi police stopped Shaheen Bagh protest march on Sunday, who was proceeding to the residence of Home Minister Amit Shah. The women of Shaheen Bagh were stopped in the midway to the Home Minister’s residence, who is staging procession against CAA.
The police said to the protesters, if they give a memorandum requesting for an appointment of Union Home Minister to discuss the issue of CAA. They will get the appointment to meet the Home Minister within two or three days, said police. The protesters said to the police we will ask Home Minister, to give in writing that NRC and CAA will be taken back.
The protesting women decided to talk to Mr. Shah after his open invitation at the Times Now Summit on Thursday. Anyone with doubts over the CAA could seek an appointment from his office and he would be willing to meet them within the next three days. The hate speeches should not have been made and they could have hurt the party’s chances in the election, said Amit Shah on Thursday. Though the BJP held a mega campaign in the Delhi Assembly elections held at 8th February 2020, with 270 Parliamentarians and 70 Union Ministers. But the party won 8 seats out of 70 seats in Delhi Assembly elections, he said.
