Rishi Sunak re- shuffled his cabinet and appoints Dominic Raab as Deputy PM

London: UK new Prime Minister Rishi Sunak appointed two key Ministers on Tuesday evening after meeting with King Charles –III. He appointed Dominic Raab as the Deputy Prime Minister and Jeremy Hunt as Finance Minister.

He wants to re-shuffle the cabinet of former Prime Minister Liz Truss immediately after he assumed his office and asked some Ministers to submit their resignations. Four Ministers in Liz Truss cabinet submitted their resignations. Among them are Business Secretary Jacob Rees-Mogg, Justice Secretary Brandon Lewis, Work and Pensions Secretary Chloe Smith and Development minister Vicky Ford.

Dominic Raab who was the Deputy Prime Minister for former Prime Minister Boris Johnson will also hold the Secretary of State for Justice Portfolio. Prime Minister in his tweet said that Jeremy Hunt who replaced Kwasi Kwarteng will stay on as the Finance Minister.

Sunak in his first address as Prime Minister promised to place economic stability and competence at the heart of his Government’s agenda. Trust is earned and I will earn yours, he said. His Government will deliver on the promise of stronger NHS (National Healthcare system), schools, safer streets, supporting armed forces, leveling up and create jobs. It will have integrity, professionalism and accountability at every level, he said.
