Several states requesting to extend lock down to contain Covid- 19

New Delhi: The Union Health Ministry said the Covid- 19 growth is slower than Monday’s cases, on the day recorded 704 cases. On Tuesday India registered Covid- 19 cases 508 in last 24 hours.

Now the total effected cases in India registered are 4, 789 and deaths rose to 124 with 13 new ones. India has so far escaped a big surge in cases after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the world’s biggest lockdown last month that authorities have enforced tightly. Several state leaders have called for an extension or only a partial lifting of restrictions to avoid only way to avoid a Covid- 19 epidemic that will be difficult to tackle. The 21 day lock down which was imposed on March 25th is set to end next week.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, requested the Union Government to extend the lock down atleast two week after the end of April 14th. “Because, we can recover from the economic problem, but, we cannot get back lives,” KCR, told to press. Assam and Chhattisgarh too have said they would like to keep the state borders closed or allow only restricted entry while they dealt with the infections. Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Rajasthan states also requested to extend the lock down in the respective states.
