Hyderabad: 1989 batch IAS officer, Special Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar appointed as the Telangana State’s 5^th Chief Secretary on Tuesday. He assumed office in the evening.

The outgoing Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi has been made Advisor to Irrigation Department, who retired on Tuesday. Chief Minister KCR signed on both orders in the evening. The Chief Minister appointed Somesh Kumar as Chief Secretary by overlooking of 12 seniors, because Somesh Kumar is due to retired only December 31^st 2023. After taking the charge the CS Somesh Kumar said to the media persons that being guided by the CM they will work as a team.

Under the leadership of KCR the state has progressed on all fronts, he said. He proposed to introduce innovative measures in the state administration in order to make it more accountable and transparent, he said. He thanked all officers who co-operated with him in discharging his function.
