Srikanth Datar is the new Dean of HBS
Washington: Harvard Business School appointed Srikanth Datar as its next Dean, now, who is the Arthur Lowes Dickinson Professor of Business Administration and the senior Associate Dean for University Affairs at HBS, will take over on January 1st, 2021, the HBS next Dean succeeding another Indian – American Nitin Nohria.
Srikanth Datar is an innovative educator; a distinguished scholar; and deeply experienced academic leader, HBS President Larry Bacow said in announcing the appointment. He is a leading thinker about the future of business education, and he has recently played an essential role in HBS’s creative response to the challenges posed by the Covid- 19 pandemic. Datar will be the 11th Dean in the Business School’s 112 years history, and it is the first time HBS will have back to back Indian- American Deans.
HBS said Nitin Nohria, who last November announced his plans to conclude his Deanship at the end of June- 2020 after ten years of distinguished service, had agreed to continue through this December inview of the pandemic. Datar received his Bachelors Degree with distinction, from the University of Bombay in 1973. A Charted Accountant, he went on to receive a post graduate diploma in Business Management from the IIT Ahmadabad, before completing PG Degrees in Statistics in 1983 and Economics in 1984 and a Ph.D in Business in 1985 from Stanford University.
