Telangana Government decided to conduct former PM P.V’s centenary celebrations for one year: urged Union Government to confer Bharata Ratna

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandra Sekhar Rao urged the Union Government to confer Bharata Ratna to former Prime Minister P. V. Narashima Rao. The Chief Minister convened a high level meeting with P.V. Centenary celebration Committee members on Tuesday.

KCR said that the centenary celebrations would be conducted on behalf of the state for one year beginning on June 28th, the birthday of P. V. Narashima Rao. He also announced that he would meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and request him to confer the award on the former Prime Minister from Telangana.

The TRS Government would also request the Centre to erect a portrait of the late leader in Parliament Central Hall. The Government has also decided to celebrate the former PM’s centenary celebrations in 50 locations worldwide besides installing bronze statues of the former PM in five districts i.e. Hyderabad, Warangal, Karimnagar, Vangara (his hometown) and at Telangana Bhavan in Delhi.

The State Government has decided to pass a resolution both in State Cabinet and State Legislative Assembly urging the Centre to confer Bharata Ratna to former Prime Minister P. V. Narashima Rao previously. The Municipal Minister KTR has been directed to coordinate the programs outside Hyderabad. KCR directed the officials to make arrangements for erecting a portrait of the leader in the State Legislative Assembly.

The CM also sanctioned Rs. 10 cr for the centenary celebrations. The centenary celebrations should be organized locally, nationally and globally like a memorial setup for former President APJ Abdul Kalam in Rameshwaram, a P.V. memorial should be constructed in Hyderabad. A team would visit Rameshwaram soon, the CM said.
