Hyderabad: Medipally police arrested a Church pastor Joseph alias Sadu Chinna Venkateshwarulu on Monday on charges of raping a woman. The police registered a case against Joseph on the complaint of the victim on Saturday under the IPC sections 376 (2) (n), 493, 417, 420 and 506 and remanded him to judicial custody.

He was running a church at Boduppal of Medipally police limits and also preaching in television programmes. He first got married in 2010 and had a child. But his wife died due to ill health and in 2015, he got married again and had a child. But due to disputes, his second wife was staying away from him along with their child.

According to the Medipally police, Joseph’s  second wife also lodged a complaint against Joseph on charges of harassing her physically and mentally and demanding additional dowry from her and a case under IPC sections 498-A, 323 and 506 of the IPC has been registered at Medipally police station. Medipally CI B Anji Reddy said, the case is under investigation.
